As a culture, we are welded to our smartphones. It is no surprise that over 50% of smartphone users grab their smartphone immediately after waking up, and even check their phones on average 48 times per day! Furthermore a study conducted in 2014 found that smartphones accounted for 33% of all online traffic. Today, these numbers are likely even higher.
Now that you have an idea of some basic stats, how does this relate to you? If more than a third of your website visitors turn away, you are missing a huge opportunity.
There are a few common tips for almost every mobile website to ensure you are attracting and engaging website visitors.
Tip #1: The Menu.
We live in a world of multi-taskers cooking dinner, talking on the phone, and use your website at the same time. The menu of your website should be easy to find, clear, and straightforward to navigate.
With such powerful tools at their fingertips, consumers expect your website to look great and be easy to use on their phone. Google recently reported that 61% of users are unlikely to return to a mobile site they had trouble viewing and 40% visit a competitor’s site instead. Without a website designed for mobile phones, you are pushing your customers to the competition.
Tip #2: Responsive Clicking.
Everyone has different size fingers and your website should make clicking buttons and links easy. We recommend all call-to-action buttons be at least 40×40 pixels.
Tip #3: Contact.
88% of consumers who search for a type of local business on a mobile device call or go to that business within 24 hours. The goal of any business is to get more customers. Your phone number and email address should be easy to find.
- Your customer most likely has a smartphone
- Your website should be mobile ready and east to use
- Smartphones are the business card of the future
- Consumers are more likely to buy from the business that has a better mobile experience
